I was fortunate enough to grow up in Chorley, close to the West Pennine Moors and at the age of 7, I joined the local cub scout pack.  This was my introduction to the outdoors, short walks and cooking on open fires gradually turned into full day hikes, camping over and walking back.  I could never wait for the next one to happen. Eventually, around 10 years old I had my first trip to the Lake District and was taken up Pavey Ark, wet, cold and nothing to see except the inside of a cloud, yet I enjoyed it.

Other activities started to creep in alongside, kayaking, rock climbing, orienteering, all of which captured me and led me on mental journeys as well as physical.

Fast forward 35+ years and the intervening years have been kind to me in respect of outdoor life, from working in an office and only being able to 'play out' at weekends to spending over 15 years managing outdoor centres, and then freelancing for various companies (which I still do).

I've organised trips and expeditions for young people in the UK and beyond, climbing & mountaineering in the Alps, skiing, kayaking

I get a lot of pleasure and enjoyment from clients, young and old, who have exceeded their own expectations.

I also like to push myself with new challenges and during the recent Covid-19 situation have been trying to walk as far as possible from home, and back in 1 day, the furthest being 57 km.
